CT NEWINGTON — Newington pools committee requested Town Council direction on aging facilities. The Town Pools Project Building Committee voted to send a letter to the Council seeking guidance on the future of the town's two pools, Churchill Pool built in 1964 and Mill Pond Pool built in 1958, which generated approximately $72,822 in summer revenue but continue to operate at a loss against staffing and maintenance expenses. The committee, which met with CT Custom Aquatics to explore renovation options including liner replacement used by comparable towns, emphasized that decisions require municipal direction and funding commitment before proceeding with recommendations.
Members stressed that further postponement risks one or both facilities becoming unusable.
