CT NEWINGTON — Newington Fire Commissioners unanimously accepted Fire Marshal DJ Zordan's resignation and appointed Assistant Fire Marshal John Hoffman as acting Fire Marshal effective June 12, 2026 at noon. Chairman Brian Whalen and Commissioners Frank L. DeMaio and Kent E.
Stoddard also unanimously tabled rules and regulations review until January 2027. Chief Trommer reported the current ladder truck, purchased in 2006, requires replacement at an estimated cost of 2.6 million dollars with a four-year manufacturer lead time, requiring Town Council vote on lease purchase or bond before November referendum consideration.
