CT NEWINGTON — The Economic Development Commission approved August minutes unanimously and reviewed vacant properties, development prospects, and recent business activity in town. Chairman Deanna Reney presided with eight voting members present. The Commission heard updates from the Chamber of Commerce on a golf tournament and revival of the "Taste of Newington" event, alongside reports of five new business openings or relocations, including Li'l Plant Store, Colony Grill, GF Fitness, Taco Johns, and Ross Dress for Wear.
Town Planner Paul Dickson noted the town has no systematic method to track everyday business vacancies. The October meeting will be held as a Zoom meeting.
