CT NEWINGTON — The Newington Economic Development Commission voted unanimously to approve July 9 minutes with eight commissioners present. Chair Deanna Reney's board received updates on Chamber of Commerce activities, including an October 5 rescheduled golf tournament and Waterfall Festival participation set for September 25. Commissioner Todd Andrews presented opportunity areas from the town's Plan of Conservation and Development, with the commission deciding to focus first on the West Cedar Street and Fastrak corridor.
Town Council Liaison Gail Budrejko flagged the remediation-challenged Esquire Cleaners site on New Britain Avenue and the vacant Price Chopper location as strategic redevelopment candidates requiring commission attention and developer outreach.
