CT NEWINGTON — Town Council approves $40,000 in planning grants. The Newington Town Council unanimously approved a $20,000 state planning grant for an Animal Control Shelter and $20,000 for library renovation and expansion. Acting Town Manager Lauren Rhines noted the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development extended funding the town had not spent in fiscal year 2025-2026 to the current year.
All votes passed 8-0 with Councilor Gail Budrejko absent. The grants will fund initial design and planning work for both projects, with results to support future town referendums on construction.
