Town Council · Meeting of May 26, 2026

CT NEWINGTON — Newington Town Council voted unanimously to advance Fire Station #4 toward a fall bond referendum. Town Manager Jonathan Altshul was directed to request draft bond referendum language and Acting Finance Director Lauren Rhines was directed to secure a debt capacity analysis for the $7.7 million project at 84 Fifth Street. In a more contentious 6-2 vote, the Council recognized June 2026 as Pride Month, with Councilors Nancy Cappello and Kelly deHaas dissenting on municipal symbol neutrality grounds.

The Pride Flag will be raised at Town Hall on June 1 and flown throughout the month.
