CT NEWINGTON — Newington's Town Plan and Zoning Commission directed staff to revise middle-housing amendments. The Commission discussed Petition TPZ-26-10, draft amendments to comply with state Public Act 25-1. Consultant Mike Damato of Tycat Planning and Policy Group presented the regulations; Commissioners Joseph Harpie and Robert Cane questioned alternative-compliance procedures and application thresholds.

Following discussion, Town Planner Paul Dickson agreed to revise the draft so all middle-housing applications would go before the full Commission initially, rather than splitting reviews between staff and the Commission. Chairman Stanley Sobieski emphasized the Fire Chief must review applications to assess emergency-vehicle access. The draft will be posted ahead of a June 17 public hearing.
