CT NEWINGTON — Newington's Town Plan and Zoning Commission rejected a rezoning bid for 180 Carr Avenue, voting 6-1 to deny a change from residential to industrial. Commissioner Gia Pascarelli moved for denial, citing inconsistency with the town's Plan of Conservation and Development; only Commissioner Stephen Woods voted against the motion. Owner Kevin Sisti, represented by attorney Mathew J.
Cholewa, sought the change to develop light industrial buildings for small businesses on the 5-acre parcel. Residents from Tremont Street and Carr Avenue opposed the rezoning, citing concerns about flooding, fire access, traffic, noise, and power lines; nearly 50 residents had signed a petition against the change.
