CT NEWINGTON — Newington Plan and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a special permit for a monument sign at Culver Street Apartments. The commission voted 7-0 on Petition TPZ-26-18, approving a free-standing sign in the Planned Development zone at 69 Culver Street, with owner Culver Street Apartments LLC and applicant contact Pamela Brealey. The approval includes one condition: the sign's internal lighting must be dimmable.
Acting Town Planner Erik Hinckley noted that both the Fire Chief and Police Chief requested the sign remain lit overnight. Commissioner Joseph Harpie recommended the dimmable provision to address glare concerns. The permit was continued from a September 9 hearing.
