CT NEWINGTON — Building committee elects Tiniakos chair, Manke vice-chair; pools delayed. The Town Pools Project Building Committee voted 4-2 to elect A.J. Tiniakos as chair and 5-1 to elect Tim Manke as vice-chair, with Carol Anne Anest absent from the meeting.

During discussion with engineers from Weston & Sampson, committee members expressed support for renovating both Mill Pond Park and Churchill Park pools but acknowledged insufficient town funding for design work. Town Manager Jonathan Altshul stated that any referendum would likely wait until 2027 at the earliest. The manager agreed to draft a Request for Proposal for design and cost estimation to be issued before the end of the fiscal year.
