Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of October 1, 2026

CT NEWINGTON — Newington's Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved a signage variance for Market 32, the relocated Price Shopper location at 3333 Berlin Turnpike. The board granted applicant Tyler Sterling permission to increase wall signage from 451 to 570 square feet—an additional 119 square feet—citing the building's unusual layout that makes the entrance largely invisible to Berlin Turnpike traffic. Since reopening at the site, the grocer has experienced lower-than-expected foot traffic and confusion from lost customers.

Vice-Chairman Piotr Kolakowski presided. Commissioner Michael Lucas moved approval; Commissioner Michael Donaluk seconded. The variance allows signage placement at the applicant's discretion.
